This body of work is part of an ongoing series, entitled "Seeking Coalescence". I merge photography with charcoal and pastels in a manner which best provides a complex viewing experience. My interest in layering mechanical form with abstract drawing ideally yields intriguing and dynamic formal mutations.
I begin with creating a large-scale charcoal and pastel drawing on paper, and through photographic projections, create new combinations which result in archival digital images. They are printed on rag paper or acrylic plexiglass in limited editions, with various sizes ranging from 20" x 30" or much larger, depending on format. The original charcoal and pastel drawings on paper also included in slide show below, also available for exhibition/sales.
The following images represent a cross-section of my recent body of works. Ranging from still-life transparency investigations to several original large-scale charcoal drawings. Each series attempts to provide particular combination of layered abstractions- caught in the exact moment when the energy is fullest. International travel as an Artist-in Resident has informed my work over the past 25 years, and has provided both material and ongoing inspiration.
